Shasta was selected by Second Nature, Barkley Seed for yield, stripe rust resistance,semolina color, test weight, protein, quality, lodging resistance, semi dwarf growth habit, and high spikelet fertility. Shasta is adapted to the Durum growing regions located in the California Central Valley.
