Alpowa, a soft white spring wheat, was developed at Washington State University cooperatively with the Oregon and Idaho Agricultural Experiment Stations and the United States Department of Agriculture.

Durum-Iraq (PI 481581) is a landrace durum wheat from Iraq. It is a spring type and has long black awns and pale yellow seed color. It grows well in the Sacramento Valley and offers the possibility of a supply for whole wheat pasta makers as well as bakers who know how to make pleasing whole durum wheat breads.

WB9229 is adapted to the wheat growing areas of the Central Valleys of California. The primary use will be for to make raised loaf bread. WB9229 is resistant to the current field races of stripe rust in California.

Joaquin Oro come from the variety Joaquin which is is a hard red spring wheat. WB-Joaquin Oro is a hard red spring wheat bred and developed by WestBred, a unit of Monsanto Company. It was released in 2011 WB-Joaquin Oro was selected for similarity to “Joaquin” for morphological, agronomic and quality traits. The breeding method was backcross. WB-Joaquin Oro is adapted to the wheat growing areas of the San Joaquin Valley in California. The primary use will be for flour to make raised loaf bread. WB-Joaquin Oro is resistant to the current field races of stripe rust in California. It is susceptible to Septoria tritici.

Wit Wolkoring (white woolly wheat) was selected as an alternative to Sonora wheat, from a similar climate region in South Africa, and has proved to be quite similar to the Sonora. The difference is most readily seen in the field. The heads of Wit Wolkoring are cream colored like the straw, whereas those of the Sonora are bronze. Like the Sonora the heads are also woolly, or velvety, in appearance.
